Soil Moisture Monitoring 

Understanding soil moisture is critical to making cultivation and irrigation decisions.   Using a Neutron Probe, the most accurate means of measuring soil moisture, Northwest Vineyard Service takes moisture readings at one foot increments all the way down to 6 feet.  We then generate a report to detail the readings graphically.  With our Neutron Probe services there is no expensive equipment a vineyard owner must buy and install in the field like other systems.  Our system simply requires a PVC tube be installed and left in the field.  The neutron probe also measures a much greater volume of soil than other systems so individual readings are less affected by rocks or air gaps.  We offer two services:  For irrigated vineyards weekly readings for irrigation scheduling and for dry-farmed vineyards, 4-5 readings per year to help with cultivation timing and other management decisions.
