GIS (Geographical
Information Systems) &
GPS (Global Positioning
Systems)
GIS combines the power of a database with mapping
software. Northwest Vineyard Service uses GIS to
produce very accurate vineyard maps including mapped
overlays of soils, elevation, and watershed
information.
Using our sub-meter GPS we can add
wells, underground utilities, drainage features, buildings, deer fences or
just about anything else you would want identified
on a map. We have mapped out frost damage, soil
irregularities, and stress patterns in vineyards.
These maps can be used for directing crew work, as
references during management and client meetings,
and as general informational maps for visitors. In
our development projects, we use these maps for
planning to give our clients a visual representation
of their future vineyard. We integrate our maps
with Google Earth for 3-D visuals. |
