"When starting at NVS, I was a new comer to the
vineyard and wine industry. I enjoyed trying
different wines, but was a beginner at best.
The most involvement in agriculture I had was
bucking hay in the summer to help condition for
football. When my job brought me out of the
business office and into the vineyard, I was a bit
concerned with how I would be received by the
vineyard professionals and wine makers. I soon
found this concern was unnecessary as everyone
has been eager to impart their knowledge from their
experiences in the industry. Many had also come
from different professions before finding their
calling in grapes.
So the reason I enjoy my job boils down to the
people I work for, the people I work with, and the
sense of community in the industry I am a part of. "

Shane started with Northwest Vineyard Service as
the Office Manager and quickly worked his way
into many other facets of the business such as
planting logistics, Harvest Operations, Safety
Management, and Human Resources. His versatile
skills are a large asset to the company. During
2006 and 2007 he managed the successful hand
harvest of over 1900 tons of fruit.
Shane obtained a BA in Business with an
International Focus and a minor in Spanish from
Western Oregon University.
